i never realized how fucked up my breathing was until i went to squarebiz ... the same ppl who bring us grindin', the great white hype, & tastytreats. i drool at the splendiferousness of tastytreats when i first went there. ?uestlove was um... what's the word i'm lookin for? oh. there it is. STELLAR. also, i fully intend on saving more of my skrilla. like, thanks to bighead melissa, a sista will be looking into an ING account & putting away at least $150 a month. that's my word. that's approximately a day & a half of work. you know what? if i clear at least $350 every week, i really should be putting away more than that. let's say i pull $390 a week on average (which i don't, all those who wanna jack me, cuz a sista has screwy hours). $100 of that could be put away. another $100 or so could go to bills (that's the LB charge card at $50 a month minimum, plus a {new} celly at $45 a month)... leaving me $190. there are maintenance things i usually go through -- batteries for my discman, toothpaste, my expensive ass body shop skin care shit -- that i'd probably spend anywhere from $10 to $50 on, totally depending upon how depleted my resources are in the first place. so, technically, i should have a hundred or more left over from ONE paycheck. this is all while i live wit my mama & pay no bills, lol. so let's presume there are four weeks in a month. i should have about $1200 saved by the ides of march (cue the spooky music if'n you wanna), possibly more. now, here comes the tricky part about all this financial forecasting. a sista LIKES TO SHOP. a sista will shop whenever. at the drop of a mother freaking dime. let's say i gets me an apartment. let's call rent $500, plus gas, electricity, & phone. my only appliances (as of this date) consist of a clock radio, stereo, blow dryer, microwave, & baby fridge. i don't own a teevee (not that i wouldn't get one), vee see arruh, or dvd player. i work from 8:30 am to 5 pm, typically. so i'd pretty much be paying to leave the house in the morning, feed myself when i get home, have light to read & shit, & listen to music. i'd presume those expenses would be another $150 a month. i wouldn't have long distance calling. phone cards work just fine. besides, niggas can call ME. include the cellular in that. so utilities & rent would be $750 a month, $850 tops. i still have to eat. so let's say food is $300. this includes groceries, eating out, going out, blah blah blah. cuz i'm a cheap fuck. all i really need is vegetables, brown rice, gluten, fish/shellfish & the occasional thai meal. i can do all of that my own. i know how to budget. i also know how to buy shit so it'll last. shit, i fed isaiah for HOW LONG on $365 every two weeks? anywho... a sista would be able to do aight on $390 weekly. that's $1560 monthly. minus the $850 for the apartment/ utilities (that means a cell phone, too.) & $300 for food (home & takeout stuff), i'd have approximately $410 left. i could deal with that. save $100 of that automatically. maybe more. stop shopping so damn much. i could finance a trip abroad in less than six months if i really worked hard. buuuuuut i forgot to factor in transportation! say that's $80 a month depending on whether or not i buy a monthly transpass or trailpass (depends on where i live in the city)... or if i live within walking distance of the jay-oh. & the skin maintenance? tell me i can't work it the fuck out & i'll laugh heartily. nothing will ever be as good for my icky skin as mango body butter. anything. any damn way, what i'm saying is that i could do it if i really worked on it. so imma start makin moves. by the late spring/ early summer, i will be out of my mama's house. this is me proclaiming that shit, okay? so, kaya, sAk, cece, peanut, bighead mel, dave, ronny, bobby, ricky, mike ... whomever is reading this... HOLD ME TO IT. for really. i'm not saying you gotta be jiminy cricket. but i like hearing encouraging words. cuz it's so easy to spend all the money i have on a digicam or something. yoga class is $8 a week. i forgot that shit already, lol. but anyway... i'll work it out. i will because i will. i know full well that i can make it work. $850 is actually a really really big exaggeration. that's if i live, like, where karen does, which is pretty much downtown philly. nah, bee. i can handle north philly... or deeper south philly, somewhere near south street where it ain't quite ready for the hip, trendy rich ppl just yet. hell, if my old boss had a trinity for $500 plus utilities with a washer/ dryer... i can do it.oh, furniture & shit would be nice, right? i guess i need to revise my original plan to save $400 a month & just guarantee myself one third of the monthly income (assuming that i pull $1560 a month, that's approximately $520, which comes down to roughly $130 per pay. $390 minus $130 leaves $260. let's say i pay the LB charge one week, then the cell another week. we're lookin at $260 minus $50. the rest is mine to start buying healthy food with & pay for yoga class. i need a yoga mat. no, seriously. i'm none too keen on using the jawns they have at the place. nah, bee.A N Y W A Y ... i need to be getting my stiff ass to bed. nite, folks.
